Dsc 58 BUDAPEST 2023 World championships DISCUS Men

After a brilliant season start with 5 throwers breaking the 70m line , it was expected a great championship to see who was really the best of them . We finally got the ”usual” trio on the podium but Daniel STAHL was clearly the most solid thrower of the day . Being able to recover from a rather laborious start to jump into the lead in the 4th round with a 69,37m throw and definitively got the title with a championship record of 71,46m in the last round . Kristjan CEH , was a brillant second , breaking also the 70m . Nikolas ALEKNA made it to third in spite of a relatively disappointing performance for him at 68.85m , in front ont the unfortunate Australian Matt DENNY who , again, finishes only 4th with a great PB and Australian record at 68.24m . The other +70m WEISSHAIDINGER and even more, ROSE did not match what could be expected from their PBs. The young New Zealander Connor BELL did well to finish 10th in his 1st world championship , less than 60cm from the top 8 . Top 8 entry was 63.88m and top 12 qualification was 63.72m.
