After 2 great qualifications rounds with 4 athlètes throwing over 64m and the best throw of 65.52m and the 12 best over 61.08m by Maria ANDREJCZYK, we were expecting also an exceptional final . It did not really happen and the Polish was unable to throw more than 62.44m for a disappointing final 8th place. The Japanese KITAGUCHI produced a winning throw of 65.80m already in the 1st round …and that was it !  The real fight was for the last remaining medals with 4 competitors between 63 and 64m . Finally the decision produced a rather unexpected podium with the South African VAN DYK winning the silver with 63.93m and the Tcheck OGRODNIKOVA coming 3rd with 63.68m . Ogrodnikova was rather lucky to make the podium having having qualified only in 12th position and made the top 8 in 8 position !

A javelin final without German , American , Finland , Swedish , Chinese , English, Indian , Canadian , throwers shows that the javelin throw domination has moved to new countries with Japan and Australia having 2 throwers each and new comers from South America .

1st Round : ANDREJCZYK 62.44m – KITAGUCHI 65.80m winning throw , AGUILAR in 2nd 62.78m  and MITCHELL in 3rd position 62.63m

2nd round : HURTADO Moves in 2nd position with 63.00m

3rd round : VAN DYCK 63,93m moves from 7th to 2nd position and OGRODNIKOVA  63.,68m from  12th to 3rd position . The final podium is already decided .

4th round ANDREJCZYK is trying hard but cannot get a good throw and remains 8th – KOLAK improves to 63.40m but is only in 4th place

5th round : Nobody is improving . KITAGUCHI confirms her superiority with a 64.73m throw

6th round : KOLAK 63.03m cannot get to the medals and nobody else get a good throw . The competition is over
