WHEN SHOULD YOU USE A PULL OVER …AND WHICH ONE ? All the javelin throwers and their coaches know these questions quite well . The PULL OVER (Pull over head) is indeed the number 1 exercise used in the conditioning of the javelin throwers . That’s fine , but , there are many sorts of Pull overs and many ways to perform them . And it is obvious that depending on your choices ,you will not produce or get the same results .This does raise a number of questions on how to fit these exercises in the general and specific conditioning and inside the whole training pictures. Which ones ? Which way ? When ? How to combine them with diverse throwing implements (Balls , clubs ,med balls etc..) and , of course, at the end , with the competition javelin itself ?
But , one more time , TAKE CARE ! : It is not because an exercise is recognised as efficient that you have to over do it or forget all the preparation work which should go before and after it to make it even more efficient . All of this while keeping in mind that the final objective of the javelin thrower conditioning is to be able to produce the highest SPEED to throw a 800g or 600g implement ….not a 100kg bar !
