Ham 56 TOKYO 2025 World champs HAMMER Men

Ethan KATZBERG was certainly one of the most solid favourites of this championships and he confirmed not only the expectation for the title but he did it in style  . He took the lead already in the 1st round with 82.66m and killed any possible opposition in the 2nd round 84.70m PB.  This was certainly one of the best hammer competition since the URSS domination era with 4 throwers over the 82m line , 3 of them with new PB’s. Germany was back at the top in this event with Merlin HUMMEL Silver medal , 82.77m  PB and Hungary , who had qualified her 3 throwers in the top 12 final and won a bronze medal with Bence HALASZ 82.69m . The Ukrainian Mykhailo KOKHAN was probably one of the best 4th place finisher with a 82.02m PB. The rest of the competitors was one class behind (Top 8  77.15m) . The American  Rudy WINKLER , one of the favourites on the paper, finished only 5th with one decent last throw at 78.52m , well under his PB but that was still better than his compatriote Daniel HAUGH , failing in the qualifications (17th 74.87m)

Disappointment for the French Yann CHAUSSINAND , who was expected to be a medal contender but did not make it through the qualifications finishing 14th with 75.46m when you needed 75.91m to make the top 12
