On the making

Adam LEECE is certainly somebody special. He started training athletics in the throwing events in June 2025 and performed rapidly in the discus throw , going from 46.11m to 57.97m in 6 months with the 1.5kg , then from 47.43m to 56.50m with the 1.75kg in 6 more months . In the same time he was also successful in the shot put going from 12.81m to 17.88m in 6 months with the 5kg and then from 15.12m to 17.69m in 2 more months with the 6kg .

But the more astonishing was still to come. When Adam injured himself at the wrist and could not train in the shot put , he decided to have a go for fun at the hammer throw at the end of a training session in June 2025…it was a very modest 35m throw with 5kg but enough to get ”infected” by the hammer virus . One month later he got 47m , then finished the year in November 2025 at 56.52m (5kg), nothing really extraordinary,  but enough to suspect that there was there a great potential waiting to be exploited . Maybe even more than in the discus or the shot !   . Things became more serious in 2026 with the 6kg U20 implement with 53.18m in January , 55.87m in March , 59.19m in April , 62.74m in May and now 66.45m in June , just ONE year only after his ”debuts” !!! , …And now Adam is very seriously thinking to go after the National NZL U19 record of Matt BLOXHAM (69.11m in 2013) before December …And in 2027 for the U20 NZL record (73.41m by Bloxham 2015) . These are World class performances i this age group.
