This was a great hammer competition with 5 throwers over 79m in the final. Cherry on the cake was  the remarkable performance of the winner , Hungarian Bence HALASZ with 84.25m . The historic world record of Yuri SEDYKH (86.74m)  is still a bit further but with also the Canadian  KATZBERG , it looks more and more reachable .The German Merlin HUMMEL (81.30m) confirms the coming back of a traditional country in this event and the Ukrainian  Mykhaylo KOKHAN is a logical bronze medal in front of the new comer MYSLYCUK (You write it like you can !) and the quite venerable Polish FAJDEK still at 79.13m .The French Yann CHAUSSINAND , one of the favourites, doesn’t belong to this group and was even out after 3 rounds with a rather poor throw of 76.19m . After a great start of the saison and a French record at 82.44m , he has obviously had a drop in his performances , unfortunately at the wrong moment.

The 8th in the final is at 76.91m and the 12th qualifier  made it with 75.22m
