Jav 57 TOKYO 2025 World champs JAVELIN Men

This was a great javelin competition and the result is rather unexpected when  2 of the main favourites , Julian WEBER and Neeraj CHOPRA finished only 5h and 8th . It was a huge defeat for Europe who ONLY ONE thrower in the top 8 , nobody on the podium and only 3 throwers making it to the final. The center of the world javelin is not anymore in Norther Europe but shared between Caraibean small islands (Tobago – Granada) and Asia (India , Sri Lanka , Pakistan) . Exit Finland , regression in Germany , Poland , Czechoslovakia ) . Remarkable come back at the top of Keshorn WALLCOTT (88.16m) , 13 years after his surprise Olympic title in London. Solidity of the other Island champion Anderson PETERS who produced the longest throw in the qualification (89.53m) but came 78cm short of WALCOTT in the final (87.38m). Surprise again for the Bronze medal won by the American Curtis THOMPSON (86.67m) in an event where the US are usually not performing so well . CHOPRA did not anymore looked like CHOPRA , bigger , heavy and technically poor . His countryman Sachin YADAV was very close to supply Chopra’s failure and nearly made it to the podium with a 86.27m PB  .WEBER was not in a good day and could not save the German tradition . ”Old” Julius YEGO (85.54m) was still in the top 6 over 85m  . There was a big density of 80m + throws in the competition  . Top 12 qualification 82.80m (Higher than usually – 10 throwers over 80m did not make it !) , Top 8 in the final 84.03m .
