It was expected to have a battle between the Canadian Camryn ROGERS and the American De Anna PRICE and Janee KASSANAVOID but we had a battle between ROGERS …and the Chinese ZHAO and ZHANG . In fact the Chinese were out classed by the Canadian who took the lead in the 1st round with 78.09m and went completely out of reach with a massive new PB of 80.51m area record in the 2nd . PRICE had to satisfy with a disappointing 75.10m 5th place and KASSANAVOID was completely out of the game with a poor 70.35m and 10th place. Only the Finn KOSONEN tried to contest the medals to the 2 Chineses but finished 4th with 75.28m. The 2 Chinese fought for the colour of their medal until the very last round and it was ZHANG 77.60m who got the silver and ZHAO 77.10m had the bronze. Special mention for Anita WLODARCZYK for achieving a top 6 avec a long recovery from injury . The top 8 was at only 71.59m and the 12th of the qualifications made it with a 70.70m throw …just in front of the French representative Rose LOGA , 13rd and 1st eliminated . The NZL Lauren BRUCE was further back with 69.19m 19th place.
