Ham 58 Adam vs Oliver comparative study

Adam LEECE and Oliver CHUNG are 2 young hammer throwers . They have the same age , but they are completely different . You would never guess that Oliver, at 70kg body weight and 1.71m tall , is a hammer thrower but he really is one of the best in New Zealand with a great technique and an incredible speed . In fact he wanted to be a javelin thrower but his right elbow decided otherwise . Then hammer throw was just a ”plan B” until it became his dedicated event . Since then he has improved every year and his 2026 PB so far with the 6kg (56.36m) commands respect ad is probably an exceptional rate body weight/performance in the event.

Adam LEECE , in the opposite , was a very discus and shot put U18 thrower and has just started the hammer ”for fun” in August 2025, only 9 months ago,  but then he has rushed things , breaking 50m with the 5kg after only 3 months of occasional practice and finally , getting fully the virus of the event and deciding to focus more seriously on it . Now he has a 62.74m PB with the 6kg and is seriously looking at the ….70m line before the end of this year !!!

In these documents we made a comparative study and analysis of these 2 throwers who seems to be so different. Oliver the ”speederman” and Adam , the solid powerful multi talented athlete . One must admit that at this age , both of them have pretty good , over average techniques , and both of them will probably had a few more metres to their actual PBs at short term. Can Oliver become stronger to manage one day the senior implement , can Adam become faster and reach the international level in the U20 age group , let alone in the seniors ranks ?  This will be an interesting experience to follow !
