This competition will probably not make much history , out of in Japan , Colombia and Australia . In fact it was a rout for the European and American throwers  that we used to see fighting for the medals. in fact there were only 3 European women in this final of 12 , no American , no German , English , Tchec , Hungarian etc..The Australian had again 3 girls qualified and made another medal thanks Mackenzie LITTLE who got the bronze when BARBER was obviously out of her last year form and qualified with difficulty in 12th position .MITCHELL did not compete. The great surprise came from the Colombian RUIZ HURTADO who nearly killed the competition with her 1st attempt at record 65.47m if it has not been for the Japanese KITAGUCHI who fought until the last round to finally got the ”big one” at 66.73m for the gold.. Anete KOCINA was the best European and finished only 4th with 63.18m . Something new : there were 3 South American girls in this final …and no Cuban . The NZL  Tori PEETERS will certainly bite her fingers to have finished only 13rd of the qualifications et be eliminated for 7cm by BARBER  !
