Once the main favourite , Japanese KITAGUCHI was eliminated in the qualifications (14th 60.38m) , the road to the the title seemed to be wide open for the other main favourite , the Serbian Adriana VILAGOS . Unfortunately , after having qualified with the best performance (66.06m), Adriana completely missed her final and did not even make it to the podium (8th with 61.29m) . Then the competition became completely uncertain with a chance given for a new generation of throwers , out of the always solid Australian Mackenzie LITTLE. In fact , LITTLE took the lead i the first round with 63.58m but was immediately passed in the 2nd round by the Equatorian ANGULO (65.12m PB) , then in the last round by the unexpected Lithuanian SIETINA (64.64m PB) . This podium would have been quite difficult to preview in a competition which confirmed the declining of some of the traditional female javelin countries in the world . No German , no Finn , no American , no Japanese in the top 12 ! In the opposite one could see the rising of the South American throwers (3 in the top 12 !) ) . Good result for the NZL Tori MOORBY 7th with 61.53m . The 8th finalist achieved 61.29m and the 12th of the qualifications threw 60.98m (2 throwers over 60m were eliminated !)
