A great competition again between with a full podium for the American throwers and 4 throwers over 22m !  Joe KOVACS really did all he could to beat the favourite and world record holder Ryan CROUSER , he started with an impressive 22.63m and CROUSER was only 3rd with 22.21m behind the 3rd American Josh AWATUNDE striking a 1st PB at 22.24m . In the 2nd round CROUSER took a short lead with 2271m and ROMANI pointed in 4th position with 21.90m when the NZL WALSH seemed to be in difficulty. Nobody of these leaders did improve in the 3rd where Jacko GILL squeezed into the top 1 with 20.82m just 1cm better that PONZIO. In the 4th CROUSER and KOVACS hit the same distance at 22.16m , ROMANI reducing the gap with 21.92m. the 5th round was decisive with CROUSER improving to 22.94m and KOVACS nearly making it but being short by 5cm at 22.89m when WALSH got a good one at 22.08m but still not enough for the podium that AWOTUNDE secured with another PB at 22.29m and the 6th round did not change anything except for Jacko GILL who moved into a 7th place with 21.40m
